BPM Heating, Cooling & Plumbing holds a Maryland Master Plumber license (#86156) and dispatches plumbers across Urbana and Frederick County for same-day drain service. A live person answers every call — no phone trees, no recordings — and can get a plumber on your schedule the same day in most cases. BPM Heating, Cooling & Plumbing handles everything from a single clogged kitchen line to main sewer diagnostics under one roof, so if the technician finds something beyond a simple blockage, it can be addressed in the same visit.

However we end up at your door, the experience runs the same way. Every BPM visit means licensed HVAC and plumbing professionals, clear communication, honest pricing, and technicians who respect your home and your time. Here’s what to expect, start to finish.
Tell us what's going on, and we'll get you on the schedule at a time that works for your day.
You'll get a confirmation and an "on the way" notification before your technician arrives — so you're never left guessing or waiting around.
Your technician walks you through what they're going to do and what it costs before any work begins — in plain language, with no pressure.
We complete the job, clean up after ourselves, and make sure everything's running right before we leave.
It usually starts small. The kitchen sink takes a little longer to clear after doing dishes. The shower holds an inch of water by the time you step out. You run the washing machine and the basement floor drain makes a sound it has no business making. You try the plunger. Maybe a bottle of drain cleaner. Things improve for a day or two, then slide right back.
At some point — this morning, last week, or when a guest noticed before you said anything — it crossed a line. You are done tolerating it.
Urbana is a newer community, and a lot of these homes came out of the ground with the same builder-grade plumbing. Kitchen lines in particular are prone to grease buildup: the layout of the pipes, the slope, the distance to the stack — it all adds up faster than it should. Hair and soap in bathroom drains, lint and debris from laundry lines, and the occasional object that should not have gone down the drain at all are the other usual suspects. None of it is unusual, and none of it means something is catastrophically wrong. But none of it clears itself either.
The part that makes people wait too long is the uncertainty: is this just a clog, or is something actually wrong with the line? That is a fair question, and it deserves a straight answer — which is exactly what the diagnostic visit is for.
I called bpm for some issues with my hvac not pumping cool air. Not only did they answer the phone, they were able to send someone that same day. After determining the problem, the appt was made for the very next day to repair my AC. I was really impressed with their service and highly recommend

We broke a water pipe while trying to remove our toilet and BPM rearranged their schedule so that they could come help us fix the pipe and remove the toilet. They were professional and extremely helpful!

Manufacturer dealer certifications require demonstrated installation quality, verified customer satisfaction ratings, and completed factory training. Premier and Authorized status also unlocks enhanced warranty options on new equipment — terms that aren't available through uncertified installers. The LG Pro Platinum designation is LG's highest contractor tier, covering cold-climate and inverter-driven systems specifically.
When a BPM plumber arrives, the first thing they do is understand what you have been experiencing — where the problem is, how long it has been building, what you have already tried. That context matters: a single slow drain usually points somewhere different than multiple drains backing up at once.
From there, the technician assesses the line and explains what they are finding before any work starts. If it is a straightforward grease or hair clog in a branch line, snaking it is typically the right call — fast, effective, and appropriate for the problem. If there is reason to believe the blockage is further down, more stubborn, or recurring, hydro-jetting may be the better option: it clears the walls of the pipe, not just the obstruction. The technician will tell you which approach fits your situation and why, and you approve the work before anything happens.
One thing worth knowing: a slow drain in one fixture does not always stay a single-fixture problem. In Urbana’s newer construction, where multiple bathrooms and a kitchen often share the same main stack, buildup in one section of line can signal what is coming elsewhere. BPM checks for that — not to alarm you, but so you are not surprised by the same call in six months.
When the job is done, the technician walks you through what was found, what was cleared, and what — if anything — is worth watching. If there is a bigger issue in the line, you hear about it honestly, with options, not a sales pitch. If the problem turns out to involve the main sewer line, our sewer line services in Urbana can address it in the same visit. The goal is a drain that works and stays working, and a clear picture of what your plumbing actually looks like.

I had BPM come out for a clogged shower and sink, and I truly cannot say enough great things about them. The technicians were fantastic — incredibly friendly, respectful, and so easy to work with. They didn’t just fix the issues; they explained everything clearly, walked me through what was going on, and even shared helpful tips to prevent problems in the future.
What really stood out was how knowledgeable they were and how they made sure I understood the why behind everything. That level of transparency and care isn’t something you get from every company.
And the prices? Very, very reasonable. For the quality of service, honesty, and professionalism they provided, they easily deserve more than 5 stars.

5 Stars – Outstanding Service!
I was referred to BPM Heating & Cooling and could not be more impressed! I reached out to both BPM and Ben Lewis at the same time — Ben had a two-week wait, but BPM showed up the same day in the early afternoon. Technician Matt Przywarty was prompt, professional, and clearly very knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed and repaired a clogged drain and went above and beyond by explaining what caused the issue and how to prevent it in the future. He provided a detailed list of do’s and don’ts, which was incredibly helpful. Matt was polite, thorough, and respectful of our home. I’m extremely pleased with the service and grateful for the quick response. Thank you, BPM and Matt — highly recommend!!

If you have already used a chemical drain cleaner and the drain is still slow or backing up, it is time to call. Chemical cleaners work on light organic buildup near the drain opening — they do not reach a blockage that is further down the line, and repeated use can soften PVC fittings over time. A plumber with a snake or hydro-jet will clear what the chemicals could not and tell you where the blockage actually was.
Most standard drain cleaning jobs — snaking a kitchen, bathroom, or laundry line — are straightforward and priced accordingly. The price can increase if the blockage turns out to be deeper in the main line rather than a branch line, or if a camera inspection is needed to locate a stubborn or recurring problem. BPM explains what they find and what it will cost before any additional work starts — you approve it first.
When only one fixture is affected, the blockage is almost always in that fixture’s branch line — not the main sewer line. A main line problem typically shows up in multiple drains at once, often the lowest ones first (floor drains, first-floor toilets). A single slow kitchen drain in a newer Urbana home is most commonly a grease buildup in the branch line between the sink and the stack. That is a quick fix.
Most single-drain cleaning jobs take under an hour from arrival to cleanup. You do need to be home — the plumber needs access to the affected fixture and, in some cases, the cleanout access point. BPM sends a text with the technician’s ETA before they arrive, so you are not stuck waiting in a wide window.
Not necessarily. A drain that recurs quickly — within weeks — may have a root intrusion, a partial pipe collapse, or a slope issue that snaking alone will not fix permanently. A drain that stays clear for a year and then slows again is usually just normal buildup. If you are seeing fast recurrence, BPM can run a camera through the line to see what is actually happening and whether the fix needs to be different the second time.
Clear the area under the sink or around the affected fixture so the technician has room to work. Do not pour anything else down the drain — additional chemicals on top of what is already there do not help and can create fumes when the line is opened. If you know where your main water shutoff is, that is useful to have in mind, but you do not need to do anything with it before the visit.
