Over the years we've had plumbing issues, and each time BPM was able to remedy them quickly at a great price. Unfortunately, due to the age of the pipes, the repairs they did ended up being a Band-Aid for much bigger issues we had. I ended up calling them out again when we had further leaks, and they recommended we just replace all the pipes because the copper drain pipes were all corroded. The thought of such extensive work (and the associated cost) was daunting, but I am happy to say that we were thrilled with work and even happier with their pricing! They literally went in the walls, cut out the old pipes, replaced them with CPVC, changed out the tub overflow/drain, replaced 2 toilet flanges, reinstalled the toilets, and replaced the piping for the old double vanity. The routes they took to do so meant minimal damage to the drywall/plaster. Besides the amazing work, the entire crew was super nice, friendly, and IMPRESSIVELY clean. They placed heavy plastic material down wherever they worked, even swept/wiped the floors clean when they were down. One of the crew members (Michael, I think) was even courteous to ask me if I wanted to keep the sections of drywall he had removed in case I wanted to use it for the wall repairs. I was thankful for his consideration; when reno'ing a home, that kind of thoughtfulness goes a long way. I cannot express how thankful I am for BPM. Their efforts made a stressful situation so much easier for us. This isn't really a review of a single company—it's more of a review of the plumbing business as a whole. If you're just looking for someone to replace your water heater, you can defiantly hire BPM Heating and stop reading here. I chose them only after negotiating with multiple contractors and spending a lot of time trying to get a reasonable price for a very simple job. Replacing an electric water heater is hardly rocket science, yet many contractors price it as if it were. My project was as basic as it gets: remove the old water heater and install a new one. The only difference was that I had purchased a premium, energy-efficient model. Almost every quote I received seemed to follow the same formula: take the cost of the equipment and multiply it by two or even two and a half. That markup had little to do with the actual labor involved. Every contractor tells the same story: "We're the best," "Our technicians are highly trained," "We're fully licensed," "We provide an amazing warranty." The sales pitch is nearly identical everywhere. Here's the reality. The manufacturer's 10-year warranty comes from the manufacturer—not from the installer. If something fails, the installer isn't going to come out and fix it for free; you'll most likely be paying them for labor. So don't assume that paying thousands more somehow buys you a better warranty. The biggest eye-opener was the utility rebate. Installing qualified energy-efficient equipment earns a substantial rebate from the electric utility. Many contractors assure you that rebate already included into their estimate and effectively keep the rebate themselves while still charging a massive markup on the installation. Nice business model—get paid twice. BPM Heating was the only one HONEST! company willing to reduce the price by roughly the value of the rebate, which ultimately earned them my business. That said, don't expect miracles. Watch the installation, ask questions, and don't assume that "professional" automatically means "best practice." Like most contractors, they'll do the job, but it's still your responsibility to make sure it's done the way you want.
