New Market’s housing stock matters here. Much of the town is older — established single-family homes and historic properties that predate modern plumbing standards by decades. That means galvanized supply lines that have been corroding quietly for years, drain configurations that were never built to current code, and water heaters tucked into spaces that make a straightforward swap considerably less straightforward. Homes along the older sections of Main Street and in the surrounding neighborhoods often have plumbing that has been patched by multiple hands over the years, which means a drain problem or a leak can have more going on behind it than it initially appears.
